An exceptionally coveted Alien CryptoPunk has been exchanged for an astonishing $16 million worth of ETH, marking the second-highest documented sale of a CryptoPunk.
NFT Watch: CryptoPunk #3100 has been sold for 4,500 ETH (~$16.4M) earlier today.
The floor price of CryptoPunks is currently at 57.8 ETH.

The purchaser, who chose to remain anonymous, offered 4,500 ETH for CryptoPunk 3100, one among a mere nine Alien Punks within the expansive collection of 10,000 NFTs. Following the rejection of a previous bid of 4,250 ETH, the offer was accepted earlier today.
The seller had initially listed the rare Punk around the $16 million mark. It’s conceivable that today’s significant surge in ETH value played a role in tipping the scales toward the sale. This NFT had been previously acquired for 4,200 ETH, equivalent to nearly $8 million, back in March 2021.
Alien Punks stand as the rarest subset within the CryptoPunks collection, followed by Apes (24) and Zombies (88). Notably, another Alien Punk holds the record for the highest-priced CryptoPunk ever sold, fetching $24 million during the peak of the NFT craze in 2022.
Trading volumes for CryptoPunks have witnessed an upsurge amidst the ongoing crypto market rally. Notably, NFT influencer Gmoney recently leveraged his Ape Punk to secure a $1 million loan.
NEWSFLASH: NFTs are Worthless
A little over 3 years ago, I took out the largest onchain loan against an NFT for $25k. Today, I am taking what might be the biggest loan against a single CryptoPunk (possibly a single NFT, but not sure and don't have time to fact check).
