Electric Coin Company unveils Zashi mobile wallet for Zcash

The Electric Coin Company (ECC), responsible for developing the anonymous cryptocurrency Zcash (ZEC), has announced the launch of the Zashi mobile cryptocurrency wallet for iOS and Android operating systems.

Currently, iPhone users can pre-order the application on the AppStore. Once the app is released on the AppStore, Zashi will be automatically downloaded to users’ devices. The iOS version is expected to be available by the end of the current month, with the Android version following approximately 30 days later. Zashi is designed exclusively for use with ZEC, allowing users to send, receive, and store assets while ensuring transaction privacy and message history.

The initial version (1.0) includes support for unified addresses, the secure Orchard pool, and the Spend Before Sync feature. The latter feature enables users to spend their old funds without waiting for the wallet to synchronize, which is useful if they have an unused wallet.

Additionally, this month, the development team of the privacy-focused web browser Brave announced the implementation of additional privacy features in Brave Wallet in collaboration with Zcash and the Filecoin Foundation.

Previously, ZEC was delisted from the global exchange OKX and Binance subsidiaries in several EU countries due to local regulatory requirements. Later, Binance decided to completely delist the coin due to its failure to meet criteria, prompting the Zcash community to propose discontinuing the transparent pool, which allows for public transactions.

At the time of writing, Zcash ranks 194th in the cryptocurrency rankings with a market capitalization of $455.5 million and is trading at $30.74, with a loss of 3.2% over the past 24 hours, according to CoinGecko.
